I am a 59-year old Massachusetts resident who decided to quit after my first grandchild was born eight years ago. I now have three grandchildren and none of them have ever seen me smoke.
I had smoked continuously for 17 years before quitting cold turkey on January 28, 2005. I used to smoke about a pack of menthol cigarettes daily and thought I'd never be able to quit, until I did.
QuitNet was my only support when I decided to quit and I credit this site for my success. I enjoyed logging in and seeing how much money I had saved and exactly how long I'd been "quit". I also got a lot of great encouragement from my fellow quitters on the forums and in the clubs.

Quitting is VERY hard at first, but try to remember that it gets easier with every day that passes. Use QuitNet often. It's an excellent source of support and encouragement.
